How The Imitations got started...
This Wilmington, NC based group started in the summer of '95 as three friends, Mike Merritt, Mike Miller, & George "Buster" Hobbs, having fun and "showing off". Within months the group added it's fourth member, George Willetts. Tony "Morony" Creech joined the group, adding his expertise on the soundboard. With much hard work and many shows later, the group has come together as friends with a sound and show that has entertained thousands of people at many great parties. We enjoy a great fan base that have faithfully supported us through the years. We look forward to entertaining for you and yours well into the future.
On January 1, 2008 George Willetts our friend and Great Performer decided to retire from The Imitations. January of 2008 Richard Collier was ask if he would like to be a part of the group, he said yes, and the rest is history.
The Imitations sing live and perform to pre-recorded dance and party music ranging from Jackie Wilson to Kool And The Gang to The Temptations. With the energy, crowd interaction, sound and light show one will quickly be in caught up in the moment and partying with us!
We currently have five "acts"; the Temptations, the Blue's Brothers, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and an Elvis set that features Mike Merritt as "The King of Rock and Roll". These performances have entertained many and keep us constantly working on new songs and material to add to the wide range of music in our current repertoire. Of course we "Love Beach Music" because were are home-grown Wilmingtonians with "Sand In Our Shoes" from dancing "On The Beach" with those "Carolina Girls", and have no problem keeping you "Shaggin' The Night Away". We love to party and bring the party with us; no group is too small or large for us to entertain.
Our sound and light show is non-stop, with Tony playing line dances or any type music you wish to hear between performances. We also can accommodate any other venue to suit the event. Our goal is for everyone present to have an enjoyable evening. We enjoy and very much appreciate a great fan base that has supported us "Through The Years", from Hilton Head, S.C. to Atlantic Beach, N.C. and West as far as Asheville, N.C., and points in between. Don't miss your opportunity to "Get Ready" to get "Higher and Higher", if you were "Born To Be Wild" and enjoy a "Celebration" on "Ladies Night" with "The Imitations". |
